If you’re after a little luxury whilst having the flexibility that an Airbnb holiday gives you, then they may be about to solve all of your problems. According to Bloomberg, Airbnb is in the process of setting up a whole new level of service which specifically pushes properties that have passed quality checks.
The idea is to target the sort of traveler who would like to rent more space, but doesn’t want to compromise on the levels of cleanliness and hospitality that hotels offer. According to sources, the premium tier will launch initially as a pilot, with inspectors entering a number of hosts’ homes to see how they fare against its new quality checklist.
Factors that have long been the measurement of a star rating of a hotel will be taken into account, such as bed linen, fancy toiletries, fluffy towels, kitchens stocked with the latest appliances and cupboards filled with artisan tea, coffee and bottled water. Apparently, this is all part of Airbnb’s plan to take on hotels for their share of the luxury market and older, wealthier travelers. Airbnb declined to comment but if the news IS true, then it could soon be so much easier to browse for luxury rentals.
