Family Date Night Ideas

Spend A Romantic Night In

You don’t always have to go out to enjoy time together. You could plan a fun night in for everyone to enjoy instead. Turn down the lights or head outside, put on some music and enjoy a candlelit meal together. The kids will enjoy their grown-up meal and you can enjoy a movie together once they’re in bed.

Outdoor Movie Night

Set your projector outside, pick a movie and grab some blankets and pillows.  We like to do this with our family friends.

Have A Picnic

Going for a special picnic can be really romantic for adults and great fun for kids. All you need is an amazing picnic spot and some tasty treats and everyone will be happy!

Camp Fire

You don’t need to camp to have a camp fire.  We have a fire pit so often after a meal we roast marshmallows and do smores for dessert. If you don’t have a fire pit, use your fire place or even a camping stove would work for the indoors.

Take A Trip On The River

There is something inherently relaxing and romantic about being on the water, so taking a trip on the river is a perfect way to enjoy a family date night. There are loads of different ways to enjoy the river, from free options and ferries to paddle wheelers and amazing cruises.

Pizza Making Night

Make the dough from scratch or buy the premade pizza bread and let each person make their own little personalized pizzas.

Star Gazing

Grab some pillows, jackets and discover the world above you.  There are apps you can download to your phone to help you recognize the stars.

Fondue Night

Even if you don’t have a fondue pot you can just place some chocolate in a bowl and microwave it. Cut up your favorite dippable fruits and snacks and you’re done.

Have A Meal Out

Having a meal out is a perfect date, but there’s no reason it can’t be enjoyed with the kids too! The vast majority of restaurants are family friendly so you don’t have to worry about keeping the kids entertained. If that’s not your thing why not try a visit to your local takeaway (drive through) so you can head home and relax once the kids are in bed (dishes free!)

If you’re the parent of young children, getting some time to yourself can be difficult. Time management is key, the good news is, you can bring your children along on a date and still have fun when schedules collide. There are plenty of creative ways you can spend time with your partner while including the kids. So whether you’re Reading dating, Guildford dating, Oxford dating or Central dating, there’s something for everyone!
