Simple Guide to the Smoky Eye
Like the little black dress, the smoky eye is a timeless classic. But too many women skip it altogether, because it seems too hard to replicate. Here, we’ve put together some easy steps and our favourite products for achieving the look:
Blend it over your lids and under your eyes to make sure that your eye make up stays put.
Swipe a creamy concealer along your under eye area using a brush. After blending on concealer, use a fluffy brush to tap translucent powder on to the under eye area. The powder will catch loose particles as you apply, so that they can be swished away with a tissue without smearing.
Using a eye lash curler, gently clamp down at the base of your lashes and hold for 5 seconds.
Blend a dark shade from your lashes to the crease, and then, use a small, angled brush to drag the shadow along your lower lash lines. It doesn’t have to be black – grey, shimmery brown or forest green look beautiful incorporated into a smoky eye.
There should ultimately be no harsh lines. Using a Q-tip, your finger or a smudge brush, lightly smudge the shadow at the crease and along the bottom lashes.
It’s time to define your eye with a black eye pencil. Drag it along your top and bottom lashes, making sure that there is no skin left showing between your lashes and the line. If you’re brave you can also line your inner bottom lash line, too.
To add a twinkly radiance, blend a highlighter along your brow bone and in the inner corners of the eyes.
Create a lush, unbearably hot lash effect with a fiber-infused mascara. These work great because the fibers attch between lashes and at the tips, creating the illusion of both volume and length.
