If you thought Michelin-star dining required a big budget, you’d only be partly right. Whilst a lot of these restaurants charge quite a bit when it comes to evening meals, their set lunch menus tend to be a different story. In fact, these five restaurants, each with one Michelin-star, will set you back less than £20 for a (usually two course) lunch.
The Ox in Belfast provides some seriously mouth-watering menu choices for its set menu, £20-for-two-courses lunch.
We’re drooling over the Cod, confit leek, bisque, basil gnocchi and would definitely add the £8 wine pairing to each course.
The Ninth, London
If we told you that you could eat a Michelin-starred meal for under £20 in LONDON, you wouldn’t believe us. But it’s true!
This French-Mediterranean restaurant in the heart of London serves up sharing food with that feel-good factor – think King Prawn Macaroni and Chargrilled Lamb.
Ormer by Shaun Rankin, Saint Helier
Ormer’s express lunch (Monday-Friday) gives you a delicious course of meat, fish or veg along with one glass of wine for just £19.
Although if you have longer and want desert then you can sample two courses for £22 or three for £27.
Turners @ 69, Birmingham
Turners @ 69 offers a bargain two-course lunch at £18.99 Monday-Saturday or three courses for £24.99.
While you won’t be able to choose between dishes here. You can currently order: Ham hock terrine with pickles, coriander and mustard to start, Ox cheek steamed pudding with creamed potatoes and bone marrow sauce for main and bread and butter pudding with vanilla ice cream for pudding.
Sir Charles Napier, Oxfordshire
You can enjoy Sir Charles Napier’s two-course, £19.50 set menu at lunchtime, Monday-Friday but it’s also available for dinner, too!
The menu changes all the time and you can usually choose from three options for each course, with beauties such as Crisp tamworth pork belly with apple and vanilla puree, frissee salad and Cornish hake with jerusalem artichoke risotto, parsley sauce and truffle vinaigrette.
